Trained originally as a textile designer and wildlife artist, Liesel has found her niche in ceramics, working primarily in porcelain. Drawing on traditional Chinese and Victorian sources, her elegant and feminine work is nevertheless undeniably modern.

Her attention to detail is evident in her range of functional slipcast vessels. One of these, an inlaid bowl with botanical motif, won an award at the South African National Ceramics Exhibition 2006.
